Monday - Work Projects Kick Off

The morning began with breakfast at the Dena. We received a nice surprise as Tom led us through passages from a book that discussed the names of God. It was a great way to start every morning as we learned about different names each morning.

As we began the work projects, we had two objective: begin garage renovations and prepare the yard area for new landscaping.

Garage renovations consisted of: door removal, stripping of plaster and addition of water proofing along the base of the brickwork. Adding the water proofing along the right side of the garage required the digging of a trench about 1 1/2 feet deep. After digging out vast amounts of ivy, the trench was completed.

The trenching of the left side was fairly uneventful but interesting as we watched Jozef remove rows of bricks from the bottom of the wall allowing the water proofing to be inserted.

We were also able to begin work on the landscaping of the yard. This project required the retaining wall and metal fence to be removed so that the grassy area could be sloped done to the base of the church. The fence and concrete slabs were removed.

At the end of the day we freshened up and were treated to a guided tour of the Jihlava Zoo by Eliska. Several weeks later I actually saw a picture of a sea lion from the zoo posted on a SFO newspaper website.

By the way, don't forget the trench along the right side of the garage.
