Did I say 1 1/2 feet? We need another foot of dirt and rocks removed. File it under a change request. Did I mention that the rocks were the size of footballs and basketball?
Work on the garage and retaining wall continued. On Monday we gained our usually appreciation for the manual labor using picks and shovels.
On Tuesday became better aquainted with our new friend Andre who lived in New York for 10 years. Andre brought out the heavy artillery providing a large jackhammer that sliced through the large boulders with little effort. Without Andre, we'd still be working on the chain gang busting rocks.
We were also able to move a lot of the rubble to a dumpster that was provided to take away to rocks.
It was also amazing how you could leave in the afternoon and when you return in the morning, the yard is always cleaned up. Either little elves come in the night or the church members are really awesome. I opt for the latter as we always had great help from church members who came to help out with the projects. They are all amazing workers.
And did I mention Jitka? She can put out the snacks. She and other ladies from the church always made sure that we had plenty of snacks and refreshments. The grapefruit and orange flavored water is addicting.
